“Is this a giant rubber duck which I see before me?”
If Shakespeare’s Macbeth had been walking along the banks of London’s River Thames on Tuesday 11th December 2012, that’s exactly the kind of thing that he might have said. Even non-fictional, real people who live and work within sight of London’s grand old river might have been forgiven for being a little perplexed at the sight of a giant rubber duck floating down the Thames on that date. So what’s it all about?
 Well, as it turns out, it’s all a big publicity stunt to promote the new ad campaign for online bingo website Jackpotjoy. I know, I wished it was a hole in the space/time/rubber duck continuum or a ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’-style scientific mishap too, but all things considered, it’s still a fairly remarkable sight. It is not yet known whether this musical firebrand is available for private functions, but it certainly would liven up the obligatory office Christmas party this year if he were. Who knew that bathroom toys went so well with Bach? In an ideal world, they would also have made a giant robotic hand to give the duck a squeeze or two on the way down, but I’m sure that health and safety concerns about the eardrum-splitting racket that this would make were the only reason they didn’t consider this option.
